Primary Applications

Metal & Alloy Analysis

Thermo Scientitic™ Niton™ portable x-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyzers can instantly verify the elemental composition of various grades of metals at various process stages from in-coming, in-process and out-going process points, as well as PMI/QA/QC analysis. Thermo Scientific™ AuDIT™ gold-plating technology is used to identify  precious metal content in jewelry, coins, and other valuable products with fire assay-comparable accuracy. Technologies include XRF as well as LIBS for Carbon and CE determinations.

Mineral exploration & processing

Thermo Scientific™ Niton™ portable x-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyzers provide rapid and accurate geochemical analysis for a wide range of elements from Mg(12) to U(92) to LREE’s in the periodic table. This provides exploration geologists the ability to increase discovery rates, identify drill targets quickly allowing for faster on-site decisions about whether or where to proceed with the project. At mine sites, these units provide for laboratory back-up analysis, or at-process point analysis for faster determinations around cutoff points.

Consumer & Environmental safety

Thermo Scientific™ Niton™ portable x-ray fluorescence (XRF) analyzers are trusted by key regulatory agencies to screen consumer products for hazardous materials., such as lead, cadmium, etc., in children’s toys, or jewelry.   Manufacturers, builders, and remediation specialists rely on Thermo Scientific™ analyzers to positively identify hazardous materials in the field for improved worksite safety and internal quality control, by monitoring in-situ hazardous samples such as leaded paint, contaminated dust, air, and soils for heavy metals.
